The UHF transmitter and receiver modules offer a 67 MHz tuning range, which allows users to freely select the carrier frequency in the field. With a new PC application, SATEL Configuration Manager, users can also easily modify other settings, such as channel spacing, channel width, and transmitter power. Preset channels can also be stored in the radio modems to enable easy scanning for a free channel on the field. A land surveying team, for example, can have a number of preset channels stored in their equipment and select a free channel when they arrive on site. In addition to being compatible with existing SATEL products, M3-T1 and M3-R1 also support the PCC protocol. The radio modems can thus be used seamlessly with equipment from other manufacturers. Buyback Program
You could say that in the field of electronics overall, the lifetime of products is not very long. But radio modems, at least those from SATEL, last 15–20 years. With SATEL, the question is not if they can be used for such a long time. Yes, they can, and they work just fine. It is about customers wanting to have new features that are not available on the old units. Therefore we offer a buyback program. It really gives users the chance to start utilising the new technology with the latest features without having to invest too much money. SATEL launches SATELLAR Digital System – a smart radio modem SATEL is proud to introduce SATELLAR Digital System, a radio modem combining TCP/IP-functionalities, a Linux platform for customer specific applications, and a versatile modular structure. The SATELLAR digital system offers different units – building blocks – that can be combined to construct a radio modem with the right functionalities for the specific location in question. The radio unit, which is the basic building block, can alone be used to access RS-232-based devices, for example, or act as a radio repeater. The central unit, with its TCP/IP-capabilities and a Linux platform, can be added to locations where more functionality is useful. The central unit is essentially a computer with sufficient processing power and memory to run sophisticated software applications. Expansion units can be added to SATELLAR to provide more functionality. In addition to bringing new unforeseen features to the radio modem market, the performance of the radio itself has been improved. The RF sensitivity is improved and the tuning range has been broadened to 20MHz. Also, advanced features such as over-the-air software updating have been developed. SATELLAR will be available in the second quarter of 2009.
